Protecting our Environment

We are stewards of the sphagnum moss marshes where we harvest this precious natural resource. We pledge to harvest in a sustainable manner in order to allow this native plant to grow for future generations.

We accept this obligation and have established harvesting methods and procedures that we apply to every marsh we manage in our area. Together, with local County forestry personnel, we teach others about sphagnum’s nature, qualities and sustainable harvest methods to broaden the need to preserve and protect the limited marshes available for harvest.

Our sustainable harvesting procedures include:

  1. Leave enough plants to allow for complete regrowth
  2. Remove brush and cranberry vines that encroach and chock out the moss
  3. Repair roads and landings after each harvest season
